This is a chilling violation of the First Amendment and an outrageous abuse of power by an out-of-control administration.
Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officials have admitted that they’ve created a database of dossiers on these individuals. They’ve monitored their social media accounts, placed alerts on their passports, and targeted them for additional screenings and other forms of intimidation at the border.
Some of the people targeted have been detained and interrogated at the border – simply because they’re telling the American people about the cruel way the administration is treating those seeking asylum in our country.
Please take a moment to email your member of Congress and demand that lawmakers hold hearings to investigate this egregious breach of the First Amendment.
The CBP list includes 50 people who are reporting on the crisis at the border or providing humanitarian aid or legal services to migrants. They include our partners at Al Otro Lado, a bi-national legal services organization that serves refugees and other migrants in Tijuana and California.
